Super Dad – Original Painted Sign
A proper bold statement piece, hand painted by Joby in a classic fairground style. The lettering is done in Dodgem Blue with French Blue laid over the top, sitting proudly on a vivid yellow board finished with a crisp black border. Behind the letters is a Bright Red stepped away block with highlights picked out in Kingsway Red and light pink, giving the whole thing real depth and movement.
The word Super has been given a lovely bit of swing and life to it, with the thick and thin, what Joby calls “Ship” helping the letters dance across the board rather than just sit flat. Tiny white highlights have been added by dabbing the very end of the brush rather than painting with the hairs, a traditional signwriting touch that catches the light beautifully.
Painted on aluminium composite board, this is a cheerful, characterful piece with all the charm of vintage lettering. And really…..who doesn’t think their Dad is super?!
