Ink Arrows – Original Painted Signs
Bring a touch of vintage fairground character to your walls with this hand-painted INK arrow sign, individually crafted using traditional signwriting techniques by Joby Carter.
Designed with tattoo artists and studios in mind, these striking arrow signs are the perfect way to direct customers, decorate a workspace or simply celebrate the timeless art of tattooing. Available in either a left-pointing or right-pointing design, each sign is sold separately, allowing you to choose the direction that best suits your space or purchase both to create a matching pair.
The bold Ink lettering is painted in vibrant Dodgem Blue, with a Dodgem Pink stepped-away block that gives the design depth and unmistakable fairground style. Bright red highlights add warmth and dimension, while a dark blue outline on the board gives it a tidy finish.
Adding to their authenticity, each arrow has been painted onto a repurposed fairground signboard, giving these pieces a genuine connection to Carter’s Steam Fair. One of the boards even still carries its original lettering on the reverse – a wonderful reminder of its previous life and a unique piece of fairground history.
Measuring approximately 60 x 23 cm, every sign is individually hand-painted using traditional techniques, meaning no two are ever exactly alike. Whether displayed in a tattoo studio, creative workspace or as part of a vintage sign collection, these one-of-a-kind signs combine craftsmanship, history and classic fairground style in equal measure.
