Carters Sheild – Original Painted Sign
A lovely decorative shield featuring the classic Carter’s name, painted in a bold fairground style with plenty of character.
The lettering is painted in Kingsway Red with Cardinal Red over the top, creating a rich depth of colour. An Oxford Ochre stepped-away block helps lift the lettering from the background, while a fine Dodgem Pink line around the edge of the shield ties everything together beautifully.
The shape of the shield lends itself perfectly to this style of work, with the soft green background allowing the reds and ochres to really sing. It’s a simple piece, but one packed with character and full of the traditional signwriting techniques that make hand-painted work so special.
