Beginners Signwriting Meet – 28th March 2026
A friendly, one-day signwriting meet for students who’ve taken one of Joby’s courses and want to build confidence painting alongside others at the same stage.
This course will take place in Joby’s workshop in Street, Somerset on Saturday 28th March 2026 from 9am – 5pm.

A Day for Beginner Signwriters
This one-day meet is for people who’ve already taken one of Joby’s signwriting courses (in person or online), have painted a few signs, and still consider themselves as a beginner. If you’d like to spend a day painting, talking & learning with others who feel the same, this event is for you.
How the Day Works
We’ll start the day by drawing names from a hat. You’ll be given another participant’s name and a prepared panel to paint for them. You’ll choose between :
- A short word (around 4 letters), or
- A longer word (up to 10 letters)
This allows everyone to work at a level that feels comfortable.
At the end of the day, panels are exchanged so everyone goes home with a handpainted sign made especially for them.

Who is this for?
This meet is suitable if you:
- Have completed one of our signwriting courses
- Have painted at least a few signs since
- Still think of yourself as a beginner
- Want to paint alongside others at a similar stage
This event is not suitable for complete beginners.
