Description

A good set of brushes is one of the most important parts of any signwriter’s kit, and these are the brushes Joby uses for his own signwriting work and teaches with on his courses.

These professional-grade 2112 chisel-edged signwriting brushes have a sharp chisel edge and medium-length hair, giving you excellent control and response when painting letters. This style of brush has been favoured by traditional signwriters and lettering artists since the 1950s – and for good reason.

Handmade in England from 100% pure Kolinsky sable, the brushes are set into seamless nickel-plated ferrules with black polished handles.

The larger the brush number, the wider the line you can create. Smaller sizes such as 00 and 0 are ideal for fine lettering, outlines and detail, while the larger sizes are suited to bigger lettering and broader strokes.

Set 2 – Sizes 1, 3, 5 & 7
A set of four brushes covering the alternate sizes and giving you a good spread for different scales of lettering.

Looking after your brushes

A good signwriting brush will serve you well if you look after it properly. Joby recommends thoroughly cleaning your brushes after use before applying brush grease. This helps protect the sable hair, retain the chisel edge and keep your brushes in top condition ready for the next job.
