Description

HOOK A DUCK celebrates one of the great funfair classics and, according to Joby, one of the best games you could find at any fair.

The background is painted in Custard Yellow and finished with a Perfect Purple border, creating a suitably bright fairground colour combination. The lettering is painted in a blue with, ironically, Swanee Pink used for the highlights, dots and drops.

Rather fittingly, Swanee Pink was originally mixed for the Hook a Duck stall on the fairground, so it has found its way back onto a sign celebrating the game itself.

An Alpha Red stepped-away block gives the lettering plenty of depth, with little white highlights adding another layer of detail. The words are set on a curve, with the individual letters arranged in an arch, a lovely example of traditional fairground layout and lettering.

Hand-painted on repurposed aluminium and measuring approximately 70 x 25 cm, this is a colourful piece of Joby's fairground heritage, full of nostalgia and traditional signwriting character. Perfect for anyone who remembers trying their luck at Hook a Duck - whether you won a prize or not!
Additional details

Painted by hand using traditional signwriting techniques, every sign carries the subtle brush marks and individual character that come with genuine hand-painted work. No two are ever quite the same – you’re buying a real piece of Joby Carter’s signwriting, not a digitally produced reproduction.
