Joby Carter says:

"When I was doing my apprenticeship in the 1990s with Stan Wilkinson, my dad wanted a design for our dodgem ride, parts of which dated from the 1940s. He’d found some art deco lettering that was so crazy you could barely read it and he wanted some lettering creating that was half way in between that and Broadway, a typical Art Deco font in our Letraset book. I drew it all out and at the time, Stan painted it on the ride. For the book I’ve finessed the whole alphabet and it’s one of the alphabets I’m most proud of as it’s very original. The letters are painted with serval colours and have a cream outline and black shadow."
