CHEERS DRIVE - Original Hand-Painted Sign

CHEERS DRIVE is a proper Bristol phrase, turned into a one-off piece of traditional signwriting. If you've spent any time in Bristol, you'll probably have heard it, a simple "Cheers Drive" as you get out, thanking the driver as you go.

Originally painted using two shades of blue, Joby then went over the top with a flamboyant yellow, giving the lettering another layer of colour and character. The letterforms are bold and playful, with plenty of the little details that make a hand-painted sign so different from anything printed.
The block on the lettering is also a little unusual for Joby. Rather than sitting underneath, it's positioned off to the right, giving the letters a different sense of depth and making this piece slightly different from his usual style.

Painted entirely by hand on aluminium composite and measuring approximately 50 x 15 cm, this is a genuine one-off from Joby's workshop.

A fun bit of Bristol, perfect for a Bristolian, a bus or taxi driver, or simply someone who appreciates traditional signwriting and a good local saying.
Additional details

Painted by hand using traditional signwriting techniques, every sign carries the subtle brush marks and individual character that come with genuine hand-painted work. No two are ever quite the same – you’re buying a real piece of Joby Carter’s signwriting, not a digitally produced reproduction.
