Description
A lovely decorative shield featuring the classic Carter's name, painted in a bold fairground style with plenty of character. The lettering is painted in Kingsway Red with Cardinal Red over the top, creating a rich depth of colour. An Oxford Ochre stepped-away block helps lift the lettering from the background, while a fine Dodgem Pink line around the edge of the shield ties everything together beautifully. The shape of the shield lends itself perfectly to this style of work, with the soft green background allowing the reds and ochres to really sing. It's a simple piece, but one packed with character and full of the traditional signwriting techniques that make hand-painted work so special. Whether you're a fan of fairground art, traditional signwriting, or simply appreciate beautifully painted lettering, this piece makes a striking addition to any collection.
  • Hand-painted by Joby Carter
  • Painted on aluminium
  • approx 30 x 30cm at highest and widest points
  • Traditional fairground shield shape
Additional details

Painted by hand using traditional signwriting techniques, every sign carries the subtle brush marks and individual character that come with genuine hand-painted work. No two are ever quite the same – you’re buying a real piece of Joby Carter’s signwriting, not a digitally produced reproduction.
