Welcome To The Freak Show Art Print

This quirky fine art print features hand painted lettering which was drawn and painted by Joby Carter in his White Waltham workshop using traditional signwriting techniques:  There are no computers or shortcuts used in Joby’s signwriting workshop!

Once complete, the artwork was then professionally scanned and giclee printed on museum grade fine art paper (310 GSM) using lightfast inks, ready for you to display on your walls at home.

This print has not been digitally airbrushed and you may see minor imperfections from the paint brush or varnish which are part of the authentic charm of hand painted lettering.

The image is available in A5, A4 and A3. It will fit into standard frames and mounts. Available while stocks last.

Joby Carter says:
“This started off as a friendly ‘welcome’ message to my students on one of my painting courses to start the lesson as part of a demonstration of my traditional signwriting skills in action. Over the duration of the five day course I decided to add the rest of the lettering. I’m sure these words resonate with many and this sign belongs in so many households!

If you look at the lettering, it’s so far removed from what you see people produce digitally on a computer. This lettering is free and loose. I’ve marked it out and I’ve let the paintbrush really do the work. The word ‘Welcome’ is good old fashioned Curveside, with the influences of Ship in there. The word ‘freak show’ is alluding to the random lettering you would see at a fairground. It’s not a specific font as such, but free flowing and full of character. I’ve put infills in and a stepped away block which help add to its unique style and charm.”
