Joby had planned to paint his way through the decades, but unfortunately the project came to a stop at 1975 - which just happens to be the year he was born. Maybe he'll get around to the rest one day!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe background was painted first, using sweeping bands of Octopus Blue, Baby Green and Swanee Pink over a soft grey-blue base. The three colours are tonally quite similar, giving it that unmistakably retro 1970s feel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lettering itself isn't taken from a particular alphabet or reference, Joby simply made it up to capture the look and feel of the decade. The numbers are finished in aluminium leaf with Yellow Flamboyant over the top, followed by an inset of Red Flamboyant. A strong black outline gives them definition, with a stepped-away block to the right and Green Flamboyant sitting further left and underneath to create even more depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePainted by hand on aluminium and measuring approximately 54 _ 18 cm, it's a fun, colourful piece with plenty of 1970s character.
